Robert Arthur. Ausable, a secret agent, is with journalist Fowler when Max (another spy) enters with a gun, demanding a secret report. Ausable cleverly invents a story about a 'balcony below his window'. Max believes it — when there's a knock at door, Max steps out to the supposed balcony to hide — and falls to his death (there was no balcony). Theme: Presence of mind is more powerful than physical strength.
